Ya-what?

yahoo thumbnail

Hundreds of you have written, begging for our insight into the whole Flash/Yahoo mess.

Ha! Wouldn’t that be cool?

Anyway, here are our deep and penetrating insights into the matter:

  • We use Macs, so we can’t even have this… whatever it is that no one else wants. Why can’t we have a spyware removal tool? Or is that, a spyware removal tool that could, itself, be considered spyware? Or spyware as such, for that matter? We are very upset. Or glib. Or something.
  • On the same page Macromedia is (apparently) promoting the Yahoo Toolbar at the top, they proudly declare “Search powered by Google” at the bottom… Fight!
  • While the ‘slippery slope‘ arguments are compelling, it’s not as though this is the most complex challenge a person would face when obtaining a complete set of current internet tools for themselves. Dodging an unwanted download seems about par for the course.
  • Maybe if we write about this hot-button issue, someone will post their furious retorts in the comments… please? Angry blogger? Corporate shill? Anyone? Yeah, you’re all still checking out the filmfest finalists or taking advantage of the last day of the early registration discount. We know.

Here’s my furious retort! :-) Thanks for linking to Hyperology!

And while you’re presently lamenting your inability to procure and make use of this “whatever it is that no one else wants,” I’m sure that eventually — given enough time and malice — someone, somewhere, will find a way to make all the same crap for Macs that exists for PCs. Until then, happy lamenting!

W00t! Begging for comments works! Now there’s no stopping us…

Do check out AmmoCell’s blog for more, um, informed insight into this matter.

Wow- does that make me the first corporate shill? Cool, that’s worth a comment… 8)

Unfortunately you haven’t given much to retort- as indeed, Macs (or anything other than Win/IE users who visit the player download page on MM.com) aren’t offered the Y! toolbar. I’d be remiss without a link to the FAQ, either- for good measure.
