Announcing Flashforward2006 Dates and Location
As any of you who attended Flashforward2005 San Francisco are aware, we had outgrown our venue. It was charming, but the smaller rooms were too limited for the more popular sessions.
So after a thorough search we have selected a new venue, a mere 808 miles North. (You might want to stay in a different hotel.)
It’s the Washington State Convention & Trade Center in Seattle. We’re taking over the entire top floor, and we’ll have plenty of versatile space to comfortably accommodate our attendees, speakers, sponsors, exhibitors, and lots of new ideas. And of course the very atmoshpere is awash with fine espresso powder, so everyone will be extremely awake and excited! (I’ve never been to Seattle so I’m just guessing.)
Flashforward2006 Seattle: February 27 - March 2. Save the dates; we’ll open registration soon and post program details as we finalize them.
If you know Seattle, tell the rest of us what we should be looking forward to during the rest of our visit!

Is Europe going to het left of the Agenda AGAIN this year ?

What do you mean Pete? This is just our FIRST event of 2006. Let’s get this one sorted before we assume how the rest of the year will go. :-)

perhaps if you read my post more celarly than just shooting for the hip you;d realise I was asking if there is going to be a Flash forward in Europe this year. It’s a pretty strait forward question.
There is a world outside your borders you know, despite what your beloved leaders would have you belive.

I should have been more clear in my reply, I apologize — what I meant to say is that we genuinely do not yet know what the next event will be after Seattle, as all our efforts at the moment are focused on making that event a success, but we are certainly looking at Europe as well as other new venues in the US. So the plain answer is: we don’t know yet.
For what it’s worth, most of the Flashforward team have lived, worked and traveled extensively in Europe and elsewhere. Speaking just for myself, I studied for several years in Britain and Germany, have some fluency in French and German, and so on. (Please realize that not everyone in the US is a xenophobe, despite some high-profile examples.)
We have been fortunate enough to see a large percentage of our presenters and attendees year after year travel to join us from Europe and elsewhere, and our Film Festival awards are routinely judged and won by designers and developers from around the world. We try to choose cities with international appeal, where we and our attendees will be welcome, places we hope were on your list to visit some day in any case.
It is very clear that the Flash community is international, and we strive to be respected members of that community. Until we are able to organize another European event, we hope you will take advantage of the services of your local Flash user’s group, many of which are organized by, and offer excellent presentations by, our favorite Flashforward speakers.
Speaking of which, you know we’re looking for presenters, yes? Submit a proposal, and if it’s accepted we can pay you to join us in Seattle. :-)
Please feel free to reply again with any additional questions or concerns you might have, or if you want to talk politics, maybe emailing me would be best. In case I haven’t already dropped enough hints about my own position… ;-)

Pete was rude and demeaning. He did not deserve such a self-flagellating and defensive reply.

I think Pete was rude! I think the response was remarkably straightforward and detailed considering Pete’s aggressive response. I would point out that no mater what country you may be from, to pronounce such judgment on an entire nation as Pete did is reprehensible.
