What Grant Skinner is REALLY up to

Monday, December 5th, 2005

Grant Skinner may or may not have a secret alternative career in earth-friendly disposables (we’re skeptical ourselves) but no one disputes his long-term mastery of Flash. And last week he launched a new site that showcases his experimental work called “gallery incomplet.”

It consists of a timeline interface with thumbnail links to Grant’s experimental pieces from the past two years, and he will be adding work at both ends in the coming months. If you’re anything like us, you will not only be blown away by what Grant can do with Flash 8, but also by what he was able to do years ago with previous versions.

As Grant puts it, “The whole site is really an exercise in passionate procrastination.” And he will be presenting a session about his new gallery at Flashforward2006 Seattle, entitled, “Digital Art and Alternative Interactions.”

gWhat gNext for gSkinner?

gWhat?

If you’re reading this, you’re almost certainly familiar with gSkinner, his famous gProject and gModeler tools, his informative gBlog and possibly even his lovely gWife.

But we did a little digging and found a side career you may not have known about. Yes, the rumors are true:

gDiapers!

Sure, this diaper company purports to be from someplace called “Australia” and includes a made-up cover story about its founders, but come on — attractive Flash site; signature use of the lower-case ‘g’ — you’re not fooling anyone!*

Homestar Runner Playsets

Friday, December 2nd, 2005

Cheat HQ

The Homestar Runner team has posted some “cheap as free” paper playsets for you to download, print, cut, mess up, print again, etc…

They’re scaled for use with the Cheat Commando figurines, but I know for a fact that some of you have access to Really Big Printers. It’s Friday… what would keep you from scaling these puppies aaaaalll the way up and transforming your cube into Cheat Commando’s Headquarters? We’re just sayin’…*

By the way, have we mentioned that Matt and Mike Chapman will be presenting “How and Why Homestar Runner Cartoons Get Made” at Flashforward2006 Seattle? Well now you know.

Matt Mike
