Artists’ Statement: FC64 is an open source Commodore 64 Emulator that started out life as an experiment to see how fast ActionScript 3 really was. A good way to test a runtime (the Flash Player) is to see how fast it can execute another runtime (the Commodore 64). It turns out that our emulator is actually faster than the original C64 hardware, which means AS3 exceeded our expectations and we need to slow the program down. This marks a new era in Flash Development (wait, did we just say the Player was too fast?). There are still some bugs to be worked out, and there are a handful of missing features that we plan on implementing. The biggest are probably sprites, bitmap display modes, sound generation, and flexible keyboard mappings. Mostly though, we plan on assembling a small army of zombie C64’s and taking over the world…

Flashforward Comment: Wait until you see the trailer for this one… if you ever sat in your basement programming Demos in assembly on the good old C=64, you’re going to love it!

Update: Now with an actual working link to the site! (Doh.)

Update 2: Claus Wahlers discusses the FC64 trailer…
